Why Choose a Vacation Rental Instead of a Hotel?

We’ve been in this business so long, sometimes we lose sight of the main reasons people come to us instead staying at a hotel. We’re aware there are many good hotels out there, and many offer great amenities. So what’s the difference, and why choose a vacation rental instead of a hotel? There are quite a few good reasons, and here are our top ones.

Vacation Rentals Offer More Privacy

Empty Hotel corridor with row of doorsA common feature of every hotel is the fact that you’re sharing the space with other people. And sometimes you’re sharing the space with a lot of other people. Even the finest hotels have common hallways, and if you’re unfortunate enough to get a room adjacent to the elevator or stairwell, you can count on a steady flow of traffic past your room at all hours. This is especially bad if you have the misfortune to choose your stay at the same time as a group like the Duluth Yodeler’s Association. They’re a fun group, but a bit less fun when they’re yodeling in the hallway outside your room at 3am.

Vacation Rentals Offer More Convenience

Breakfast in KitchenSometimes a hotel is the best choice if you’re staying in a downtown area, but with the right planning, you can often find a good vacation rental even in those locations. Mornings in most hotel rooms start with formulating a plan for breakfast that typically involves going to a local restaurant. And during busy times, it involves waiting for a table at that restaurant. With your vacation rental, you greet each morning with all the conveniences of home. A quick stop by the market on your way in, and you’ll have a full kitchen stocked with all you need to make your own breakfast. While you’re still in your pajamas, and without waiting for a table.

Vacation Rentals Offer Better Value

Group of friends outside cabinThis is especially true when you plan a big family, work, or church event around your vacation rental. Finding rooms for a dozen people can be very expensive and involves lots of logistics to get everyone in the same place at the same time for meals, meetings, and activities. Many of our properties have room for a dozen guests or more, so even our most expensive properties suddenly become less expensive than a basic motel room when the cost is shared across a large group. And you’ll have the added benefit of spending more time together, which is probably the main reason you planned your event anyway, right?

Big Bear is our most popular destination, and you can book your stay online or view all of our Big Bear cabins and luxury estates at this link.  Or give us a call at 310-780-3411, and we’ll help you choose a great property for your getaway.  And if you’d like to explore any of our other destinations, you can be assured that we’re committed to providing top quality cabins, estates, and condos for your next vacation getaway.  Here are links to our other properties in Nuevo Vallarta and La Quinta.

Business People In Hotel Lobby, Mix Race Businesspeople Group Guests ArriveIt can be a real problem trying to put together the lodgings for a larger group, and many planners can face challenges keeping their group close together. Because we have a large presence in our markets, we have some great choices that alleviate this problem. With some advance planning, we can accommodate groups of more than 20 guests in side-by-side cabins in Big Bear. We have over a dozen luxury beach-side condos in Nuevo Vallarta in Mexico, and we have 17 upscale properties near Palm Springs in La Quinta, with most of them located overlooking local golf courses.

Pool PartyThe advantages of choosing Five Star Vacation rentals extend beyond the convenience of the sleeping arrangements. It also helps foster a better group experience. Most of our properties have barbecues, and nearly all of our desert properties have private pools as well. Instead trying to find a meeting room or venue, many of our properties are well-equipped to host large dinners and meetings with your group. We’ve seen weddings, reunions, church retreats, and company gatherings hosted in our properties. While there’s room for a big group, there’s still the intimacy of a private home or estate to keep your group feeling pampered.

Business colleagues taking break from work. And that pampered feeling is something we’re convinced you’ll be unable to duplicate in any other type of lodging. Even the finest hotels can’t offer private pools, full chef’s kitchens, and an assortment of pool tables, foosball, fireplaces, and other amenities you can really only find in a luxury cabin or estate. Your group will be awed by the way our properties make them feel, and you’ll be praised for making such a great choice.

Labor Day in Big Bear

We really hate to see the summer come to an end, but we know it’s inevitable. We’ve been watching the back to school ads popping up everywhere, and we’re already reworking our schedules for getting the kids back in school and fitting in the various sports and clubs. But take heart, there’s still time to schedule a great Labor Day in Big Bear.

Plan Your Fall Getaway to Nuevo Vallarta

Summer is rapidly coming to a close, and we know many of us are rushing around preparing for the kids getting back to school. This involves a lot of scheduling and general mayhem, so we’re hoping to interrupt you for a moment to encourage you to plan your fall getaway to Nuevo Vallarta.

Nuevo Vallarta is in the middle of the rainy season right now. Some guests like the smaller crowds and romantic feeling of being on the beach during the storms. But October is usually one of the dryer months, and it’s too early for the holiday crowds. This is why we recommend booking your fall getaway to Nuevo Vallarta now.

Villa la Estancia is our resort right on the beach, and it’s simply breathtaking. You’re moments away from the surf with every luxury amenity available right on the property. You can enjoy feeling pampered in the spa, swimming in the pools or in the ocean just beyond. The on-site restaurants are amazing, and you can also take a quick trip into nearby Puerto Vallarta to stock up on local fresh catch and vegetables to cook your own creations right in the kitchen of your fully-equipped condo.

Golfers also love this destination, because there are world-class courses nearby.  Fishing off the coast can be truly epic with a broad variety of sport fish in the local waters. And Puerto Vallarta is just a short cab ride away with its old-world feeling and amazing fresh seafood restaurants. You’ll also want to browse the many shops and locally-created art to take something back to remember your time here. The Historic Center is a favorite with many guests and features artwork and crafts created by local artisans.

Downtown Puerto Vallarta at sunset - Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, MexicoThe old city in Puerto Vallarta has something for everyone in the family, and there’s a lively nightlife as well. Between your time on the beach, relaxing in your luxury condo, or exploring the local scene, this will be a trip you’ll want to repeat. And it’s perfect for a romantic getaway for just the two of you or the entire family. There are direct flights out of LAX most days for the 3 hour flight to Puerto Vallarta. You can rent a car at the airport or just grab a cab to the resort.

You can view all of our Nuevo Vallarta condos and book online at this link. You can also have a great family holiday in  Big Bear and La Quinta. No matter what city you are visiting, staying in a Five Star Vacation Rental property will ensure that you experience the absolute best in luxury accommodations. We would be glad to help you plan your holiday in Nuevo Vallarta or elsewhere, so if you would like more information, you can reach out to us by calling 310-780-3411.

Put Us On Your Back to School Shopping List

School Bus: Cute Girl Getting On BusThe ads are unavoidable, and it’s unmistakable that the lazy, hazy days of summer are waning.  Back to school season is upon us with all the flyers in the mail, the extra shopping trips, and the annual reworking of our schedules. But there’s still time to plan one last family getaway before the bell rings on that first day back to school.  Put us on your back to school shopping list, and you can end the summer on a great note.

Big Bear is amazing during the late summer. The evenings are usually cool, and the daytime temperatures can be a break from the hotter days more common throughout much of Southern California. Especially popular this time of year is the golfing, hiking, trail biking, and fishing on the lake.

Golf, ball lying on the green next to holeGolfers can also enjoy the 9 hole course at the base of Bear Mountain throughout the summer. This is a delightful course that offers some of the most amazing scenery you’ll find on any southland course.  Have fun brushing up on your game with their 300 yard driving range and areas for chipping, putting, and bunker practice zones.

Hikers will find improved paths for all skill and exertion levels, with clearly marked paths and some wheelchair and stroller accessible. Here’s a good list of trails at this link.
