In our blog last week we took you on a tour of some of our amazing vacation rental properties in La Quinta. We finishing up this week with a closer look at the rest of our getaway opportunities there.

Each of its 4 bedrooms is a master suite, so this one will also be a great choice for larger groups or a family get together. If you’re already having a hard time deciding on which of our amazing La Quinta properties to choose, let’s complicate things by taking a closer look at PGA 106. Cyclists will love all of the organized rides coming up in July. Through the summer, the Big Bear Cycling Association has events planned for most days and weekends. The rides are free and cater to different skill levels. Get more details on their website at 
On July 14th and 21st The Miss Liberty paddlewheel boat is offering a wonderful evening out on the lake with fine dining and live jazz featuring Mike Cross and the Real Jazz Trio. Of course, Big Bear is our most popular destination, and there’s always something for dad to enjoy here. Big Bear Lake has some great fishing and water sports. Anglers will rejoice at the opportunities that await them in Big Bear during May. In addition to the usual great fishing on the lake, the lake will be specially stocked for the Hall Family May Trout Classic on May 20th and 21st. There are $8000 in prizes slated to be awarded and Bass Pro Shops is donating a new kayak as well. The entry fee is $75, and kids 16 and under can fish for free. Proceeds will go to keep trophy-sized fish stocked in Big Bear Lake. It’s a great chance to enjoy a couple of good fishing days, catch some big fish, and maybe win some prizes too. The Western Mountain Steam Festival lands with its unique blend of great food, handcrafted jewelry, clothing, artwork, and Steampunk items on May 28th and 29th at Pederson’s Mill in Fawnskin. Organizers are expecting to see a diverse crowd of cowboys, time travelers, pirates, entertainers and more. If you’ve ever wanted to delve deeper into the creative world of Steampunk, this is your chance to dive into this amazing alternate history launched from the bygone days of steam power.
May also sees some of our favorite cover bands arriving. “Queen Nation’s” version of Queen will be at The Cave on May 13th at 6:30pm. “Wild Child” will have you singing your heart out to all your old favorite Door’s hits when they land at The Cave on May 6th. If you’re a budding gourmet, the Tuesday Farmer’s Market is one stop you’ll want to include during your visit. Birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts will want to plan their visit around the International Bird Day at the Big Bear Discovery Center on May 13th. This free event features an informative talk about local birds and those just passing through. There’s a nature walk crafts, and kids get to build their own birdhouse. The event runs from 10am to 2pm. Visit 
May also sees the arrival of the 2017 Amgen Tour of California Individual Time Trial. The weekend is packed with lots of great events, and your enjoyment of this event can only be enhanced by taking it all in from the home base of your Five Star Vacation Rental cabin or estate. Over time, we became more sophisticated and learned to make our vacations a real event. We’d travel to exotic locations and stay in tall buildings full of strangers who make noise in the hallway outside our room at 3AM. We called these buildings “hotels,” and for a long time, there were few other options available for travelers.
Hotels are fine for lots of travel, but if you want a truly memorable getaway, you’re going to need to bring home something other than a couple tiny bottles of shampoo and conditioner.
