Enjoy March in Big Bear

Are you ready to take the plunge and enjoy March in Big Bear? We’re talking about an actual plunge. Big Bear’s annual Polar Plunge is scheduled for March 3rd, and it’s a great time for you to demonstrate your bravery for all to see. Yes, you can have some fun, freeze your, um, fajitas, and support Inland Empire Special Olympics at the same time. For those of you sane enough to actually refuse to enter the frigid waters of Big Bear Lake, there’s plenty of fun stuff and ways to support the cause without ever entering the water. Count us in as part of the latter. The Plunge takes place at Veteran’s Park, 40870 Big Bear Blvd. Registration starts at 10am.

If you want to avoid the crowds on the morning of the Polar Plunge, The Cave is also hosting a pre-registration party the night before on March 2nd. It will feature live music and a meet-and-greet with local Special Olympics athletes. The Cave is located at 40789 Village Drive, and the fun starts at 6pm.

If you’re sad that the Winter Olympics are ending, there’s still some great half pipe action to enjoy. On March 4th the United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association is hosting their half pipe competition at Bear Mountain. This is the training ground for future Olympians, and a great chance to see some of the most talented half pipe skiers around. The event starts at 10am at Bear Mountain. Registration starts at 8:30am and the event begins at 9:30am. Visit their website at this link for more details.

The Bald Eagle Celebration continues on March 10th with volunteer spotters helping provide the annual count followed by an informative presentation on these majestic birds and their long history in the Big Bear region. Those wanting to participate in the count should arrive at the Big Bear Discovery Center at 8am. The bald eagle presentation takes place at 10am. Load up the kids every Friday and Saturday night through Christmas for an old fashioned hay ride. The fun starts 4pm and the last ride is in by 8pm. Head over to Bear Valley Farms at 1601 E Big Bear Blvd to buy tickets.

Every Saturday and Sunday until Christmas Eve, bring the kids to visit Santa and Mrs. Clause at the Christmas Tree Lot in Big Bear Village. You’ll all delight in the fun and sparkling eyes of the jolly old elf. Be sure you stay off the naughty list!

The Moonridge School of Dance is presenting The Nutcracker ballet at the Big Bear Performing Arts Center on December 16th and 17th. If you have an even larger group up to 26, our Cabin #23 is actually three cabins side-by-side with 10 bedrooms and 6.5 baths. This group of cabins offers a great option for larger groups, since you’ll also enjoy 3 kitchens and 3 entirely separate living areas. Family reunions and groups with lots of kids will really enjoy this one. Set the kids up in one of the cabins and just rotate adults in and out to keep an eye on them while the rest of you can enjoy some relaxing time together.

Meet Kevin and Maria Cobb, Your Five Star Hosts

Kevin and Maria Cobb entered the world of luxury vacation rentals almost by accident. They started out with a love of travel, and a strong background in real estate, lending, and the hospitality industry. As any seasoned traveler can tell you, the quality of your experience with the accommodations where you’re staying can play a significant role in your overall enjoyment of any vacation or getaway.
