Hollywood Comes to Five Star Vacation Rentals. Again.

We’re starting to feel like a stage mom.

We’ve got these amazing kids (read “vacation rental cabins, estates, and condos”) that have such overwhelming appeal, it’s only natural that folks are drawn to their luxury and custom features. And with increasing frequency, people are putting our kids in TV shows and movies. In recent months our properties have appeared on “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” ABC’s “The Lookout,” and the indie film, “A Separate Life.” We’re mighty proud about that.

Our most recent brush with fame is with Cabin 10, The Grand Lakefront in Big Bear. The cabin was featured on WETV’s Kendra On Top episodes, “The Big Bare” and “Cabin Fever.” Kendra and her husband Hank celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary with a weekend stay in this cabin. And we’d be hard pressed to choose a better destination.

If you watched the show, you saw the squeals of delight as the young starlet arrived. “Look how beautiful this is!” was her first reaction, and she threw in a “this is awesome!” as well. But this is nothing new to us. That’s how we reacted when we first saw this amazing log estate on the lake. And our guests have pretty much the same reaction each time they arrive as well. It’s a remarkable property.

This home is constructed of full round lodgepole pine logs from Montana. And to ensure the absolute best quality, the builder actually assembled the entire cabin on site in Montana to check that each joint and log fit exactly to their rigorous demands. Once they were satisfied with it, they disassembled it log by log and loaded it on trucks bound for an exclusive lot in Big Bear right on the lake. As you can imagine, this is a very expensive way to build a cabin. But after you spend a few minutes wandering around inside, you’ll quickly begin to see the level of luxury and craftsmanship that can only be achieved by this extreme attention to detail.

We have so many amazing properties, sometimes we get concerned that the beauty and quality of any individual property may be overlooked as guests browse our vacation rentals. With its 6 bedrooms and 5-1/2 baths, it’s ideal for large groups or multiple family getaways. But it has so many desirable amenities, that it will be appealing to any of our guests, regardless of the size of your party. Fishing on the lake is great this time of year, and the lake is right across the street. For more outdoor fun, you’ll want to relax in the sunken spa, or take a swim in the pool. The kitchen is a gourmet’s delight with beautiful natural stone counters, double ovens, and professional-grade gas stove. It sits on a huge lot, so be sure to set aside some time to enjoy strolling the grounds for a while or sitting out on one of the decks to enjoy the cool summer evening breezes. And you can settle in with some hot chocolate later in front of one of the 4 fireplaces to cap off the day.

We’re very pleased to announce the newest addition to our Five Star Vacation Rental lineup of luxury estates. No. 44 Dreamscape Villa is nestled in the forest in the Moonridge area of Big Bear. This cabin is pure delight and luxury crafted at the hands of Bob Dixon. Bob has been building distinctive properties for nearly 40 years and some of Big Bear’s most desirable cabins started on the drafting tables at Dixon Construction. You’ll be delighted with the attention to detail as you relax in the log-themed decor and marvel at the majestic views from the deck.

We’ve filled the house with great diversions including a Foosball table, and a new Sony LED TV. As the evening gets late, you will likely find yourself in front of the custom fireplace while you fix some steamy hot chocolate in the modern gourmet kitchen. Be sure to spend a little while in the warm relaxation of the spa before you head off to bed.

Come morning, you’ll be back in the kitchen to cook up a perfect breakfast for the entire family. January Events In Big Bear

January is a busy month in Big Bear, and there are lots of fun activities available beyond the slopes. One of the great things about Big Bear is that you can ski all day, and have some real fun at night as well. And there’s enough to keep you busy off the slopes to make January a great time for a visit even if you don’t ski at all.

The Big Bear Discovery Center has lots of great activities planned for January. Each Saturday morning they offer a snowshoeing adventure in the San Bernardino National Forest with a resident naturalist. You’ll learn how to snowshoe, and go for a guided trek through the forest. Snowshoes, poles, water and a snack are provided. Please bring warm clothing layers and waterproof boots or shoes. The center also has a fun animal tracking event every weekend that allows you to locate and identify some of the local animal tracks. This is great fun for the entire family. Come learn how to track animals found in the forest. Learn how tracks are cast and make your very own. After creating your animal track, a naturalist will guide you on a 20 minute walk around the grounds searching for signs of animals.

The Big Bear Discovery Center is located at 40971 North Shore Drive in Fawnskin.

Take cooking lessons. Release your inner Julia Child by spending some time with one of the world-class chefs at the Copper Q. It’s an amazing experience with limited space so budding gourmets or wannabe chefs can rub elbows with a pro to see how it’s really done. You’ll learn to cook some of the most amazing delicacies and get to sample your work along the way. Classes are scheduled during the week, and space is limited, so be sure to call ahead. Located right on the lake, this amazing property is nestled in Big Bear’s most exclusive neighborhood. It’s perched on a hill overlooking the lake and includes 250 feet of lake frontage. As you walk through the front door, you’ll realize the genius of the architect’s attention to design. The entire home is built to accentuate the amazing lake views. The home is constructed of full-round lodgepole pine logs from Montana. The builder fully assembled the home first in Montana to check for a perfect fit. The home was then disassembled, transported, and reassembled on the present site. It’s a very expensive way to build a home. But when you’re concerned with getting every last detail absolutely correct, it starts to make sense. The home has 3 bedrooms and 3-1/2 bathrooms with room for 10 guests. Two of the bedrooms open onto the outdoor patio, so it’s perfect for large parties or two families to share, so they can stay up as late as they want or sleep late without disturbing the other guests. And when you step out on the patio, you’ll be looking out over the lake and the colorful custom landscaping. Five Star Vacation Rentals Cabin Featured in New Film

We’re so excited about this, we can barely sit still. We received a phone call today from filmmaker Jillian O’Neil. She rented our Big Bear cabin #1 a while ago to use in a new film she was making, “A Separate Life.” And today she calls us to let us know the film was finished a while ago, and will be featured in the upcoming Big Bear Film Festival. The film has turned out to be quite a success, and movie goers all around the world have been watching Jillian’s compelling drama acted out in our lovely cabin. The film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival, and Jillian won the Best New Director award from the Action On Film International Film Festival last summer. But as much as we love Jillian’s new film, we just couldn’t take our eyes off that lovely cabin in the background. . . . But don’t you expect that from us?

Jillian told us that her film is on the schedule at the Big Bear Film Festival for September 16th, and as we write this blog, the starring cabin is still available for that weekend.
