Off Season in Mammoth Mountain

Mammoth Mountain is known as the top spot—no pun intended—for outdoor fun and activities in Big Bear. This is especially true in winter when snow and low temperatures make it the perfect destination for skiing and snowboarding. Don’t let that fool you, though. Mammoth Mountain offers plenty of fun year-round, including many summer activities that visitors can indulge in. If you’re hoping to spend time appreciating the great outdoors in Big Bear, head to Mammoth Mountain to take in activities such as hiking and mountain biking amidst the area’s most beautiful natural scenery.

Hiking is actually one of the biggest attractions visitors in Big Bear visit for, and there’s no better place to find a trail than Mammoth Mountain. Here, you can appreciate the blanket of trees, including majestic pines, douglas firs, cedar trees, and junipers. Your hike may also turn into an impromptu animal watch. In the mountain, critters such as squirrels and chipmunks are common, but you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a bobcat, fox, or mountain lion. The summer months are a perfect time to hike the altitude of the mountain and take in the sights.

If hiking doesn’t entice you, however, maybe mountain biking will. During summer, Mammoth Mountain offers the only lift-served trails in California, so you can easily transport your bike to the top of the mountain and trek along its trails. Mountain biking offers an intense workout paired with the opportunity to enjoy the natural scenery. Few activities are as high energy, and few will offer the same chance to see the beauty of Big Bear from atop a mountain. This Mammoth Mountain activity is certainly not for the faint of heart, but if you want a stunning experience, you can embark on the trail.

Big Bear is a year-round destination because its beauty and attractions never disappear. While you may not be able to hit a ski slope, you can bike down a mountain instead. Time To Plan Your Ski Getaway

The recent storms blanketing Southern California have inflicted pain on our driving, but bring paradise to the ski slopes. The weather reports say the drought is not over, but there’s plenty of great base now. And fresh powder is falling regularly.  You need to stop procrastinating, grab your skis and call us.

Our most popular ski destination is Big Bear, and it’s easy to see why.  Big Bear has two of Southern California’s most popular ski resorts. Bear Mountain and Snow Summit both offer great slopes and cater to skiers of all ages and skill levels.  Lift tickets give you access to both slopes, and they offer a free shuttle between them.  On some days, you can ski virtually all day along on two different mountains without repeating the same run.  Save some time by purchasing your tickets in advance online. Here’s the link:  http://www.bearmountain.com/snowboard/rates/season-passes/ Reserve your luxury Five Star Vacation Rental at this link: http://fivestarvacationrental.com/area_BigBear.php .  There’s nothing like spending a day on the slopes and then returning to the amazing luxury of your Five Star Vacation Rental cabin.

We can help you there too.  We have two great condos in the Juniper Springs Lodge.  We love this destination because it’s a true ski in-ski out location.  For the serious skier, you have no travel time at all.  You’re right on the slopes, and can just about roll out of bed directly onto the first ski run of the day within minutes.  Take a look at our Mammoth units at this link: http://fivestarvacationrental.com/area_MammothMountain.php .

We’re also pleased to offer a beautiful condo at the base of Park City Mountain in Park City.  Located just moments from to the Three Kings, First Time, and Eagle chairlifts, this is a great destination for up to 4 guests.  It’s also centrally located for the great nightlife offered in Park City, so you can ski all day and enjoy the nightlife until exhaustion brings you back to your luxury Five Star Vacation Rental.  It will be a great feeling, though.  Take a closer look at this property at this link: http://fivestarvacationrental.com/propertyPage.php?prop=snowFlower

Dreaming of a White Christmas? That’s One of Our Specialties

One of the great things about Southern California is the close proximity we have to so many diverse climates and activities.  We can travel east for a short time and quickly change from city living into the desert communities of Palm Springs and La Quinta.  We travel west and hit the amazing shoreline with beaches and fishing.  Just a short drive to the south, and we can enter Mexico, which we’re convinced offers the most authentic, um, Mexican food, on the planet.  And within just a couple hours drive of virtually anywhere in Los Angeles or Orange County, you can find yourself at some of the most popular theme parks and movie studios.  It’s really an amazing place, but perhaps even more so during the winter.

Big Bear skiing awaits

Winter brings a new element to Southern California that is found in very few places on earth.  Within a single day and just a couple hours drive you can go from wearing short sleeves and shorts, to skiing down a mountainside covered with fresh powder snow.  There’s really nothing quite like it anywhere else.  And for many Southern Californians, the opportunity to spend some time in the snow is something they really look forward to.  We understand.  We feel the same way.

The great thing about our Big Bear vacation rentals is the amazing amount of activities available for the family.  With the slopes at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit, there’s enough skiing to keep even the most avid skier smiling for many days.  But in addition to the skiing, Big Bear has some of the best shopping you’ll find anywhere.  Local arts and crafts can be found in many of the Village shops.  There is a huge variety of local restaurants and other activities as well.  Take a look at our Big Bear vacation rentals on this page, or call us at 310-780-3411 to book your getaway.

Our Mammoth Mountain condos are right on the slopes and offer some of the best skiing you’ll find anywhere in the world.  We offer ski-in/ski-out units, so that you can enjoy every last moment  your heart desires racing down the slopes.   Our units have shopping on-site and are the best home base possible for your next ski trip.  Click here to take a look at our vacation condos at Mammoth Mountain.

Mammoth has miles and miles of ski runs

We’re also pleased to offer a beautiful Park City condo right the base of Park City Mountain located next to the Three Kings, First Time, and Eagle chairlifts.  This luxury vacation rental has cathedral ceilings and a balcony overlooking the slopes.  So pack your skis and give us a call.  You’re certain to smile until your face hurts with this one.  Here’s the direct link to our Park City condo.

We’ve got so many great choices for your snow vacation, it may seem a bit overwhelming.  Please give us a call at 310-780-3411, and we’ll be glad to help you choose the best vacation rental for your winter getaway.
