Take a hike! There are over 50 miles of improved trails in and around the Big Bear area, and summer is a wonderful time to enjoy a family outing among the trees and wildlife. You can make a day of it by packing a picnic lunch. You can start your day at the Big Bear Discovery Center (http://www.nationalforestassociation.org/bigbeardiscoverycenter.php ). They have maps and information available there on the best trails to choose for your family.
Big Bear also has a wonderful 9 hole golf course with a pro shop and great restaurant on premises. You can also make a day of it by booking to play a full 18 holes by arranging to play through twice.
