Enjoy an Active Getaway to Big Bear

As the summer draws to a close, many of us are reluctant to abandon all the activities we’ve been enjoying for the past several months. And there’s really no reason to stop enjoying lots of fun activities just because school is starting back up and your schedule is a bit tighter.

The vibrant nature of Big Bear make it a natural draw for sports of all kinds. Throughout the year, you will see snowboarders, cyclists, and runners—just to name a few—visit Big Bear to compete, train, or simply play in the beautiful environment that surrounds them. In the warmer months of summer and spring, water sports dominate the local activities, but in the cold of fall and winter, you get to see the gorgeous snow that entices snowboarders and other cold weather sportsmen!

This is the time of year when the unique beauty of Big Bear truly shines. On September 19th, snowboarders will flock to enjoy it and compete in the 12th Annual Hot Dawgz and Hand Rails competition. Offering an early taste of winter, this event marks the kickoff of snow sports in Big Bear with some manufactured snow. It’s great fun for athletes, locals, and visitors alike. There will be an array of booths set up representing dozens of brands who will hold contests to win merchandise. This will also be your last chance to get the lowest price possible on a season pass for winter 2015-2016. These passes will be available onsite at The Parks at Bear Mountain from 9am to 6pm.

If you are visiting and get the chance to check out the festivities, you won’t regret it, but you don’t have to watch by the sidelines and watch others have all of the fun. You can take advantage of the snow and enjoy some sports of your own! As the winter season gets underway, ski resorts will begin opening their slopes to visitors. Skiing is a great way to exercise, see the best of Big Bear nature, and have a truly unique experience during your vacation. Snowboarding, similarly, is a fun way to enjoy the upcoming winter weather and get a vigorous workout in the process!

Snow sports are hardly the only physical activities Big Bear has to offer. Year-round, you can traverse hiking trails, compete in marathons, or do yoga in the solitude of nature. No matter how you choose to spend your time in Big Bear, nothing is more relaxing than retiring to your luxury vacation rental at the end of the day. You deserve to rest and reward yourself after a long day of activities!
