Why Choose Five Star Vacation Rentals?

FamilyHiking_StockEvery week we take an opportunity here to cover some interesting event or activity at one of our destinations.  It’s easy to understand why.  Our guests are an active bunch, and they tend to hit the ground running when they arrive for their Five Star getaway.  And our properties are located in some of the most amazing destinations.

You have a lot of things to consider when you plan your next vacation or weekend getaway, and big part of that decision is the place you’ll stay once you arrive.  Though you may sleep less on vacation, you’ll definitely want to make sure you have a comfortable bed waiting for you when you’re ready to catch a few winks.  We are unlike virtually every other option out there.

Hotels are a common choice for many travelers, but there are definite drawbacks.  Even the best hotel can take on the feeling of a college dorm if you just happen to book your stay at the wrong time.  Common hallways are often filled with uncommon noises at all hours.  It only takes one rude guest to rouse an entire floor of sleeping vacationers.  We all have stories along those lines, don’t we?

In addition to the roulette of noisy  neighbors, hotels also require more time and planning to do even the most simple things you do at home.  With some rare exceptions, you cannot simply roll out of a hotel bed and make yourself a yummy omelette, some toast, coffee, and orange juice in the morning.  Even hotels that offer a breakfast service would prefer that you don’t show up in your pajamas and slippers for the meal.  Greeting the morning with the requirement that you get dressed and share the time with complete strangers is a major detraction from the enjoyment.

This is where a vacation rental makes a huge difference.  It literally becomes your home away from home.  It has all the convenience of home, but you’re magically transported to a destination that offers more fun and relaxation than home.

Five Star Vacation Rentals takes this concept light years beyond and lets you experience your vacation in a manner that is typically reserved only for the extremely wealthy.  We have assembled top-notch luxury properties in some of the West’s most desirous locations.  These properties offer craftsmanship and luxury furnishings that are intended to amaze our guests.  And that’s the typical reaction we get.  For the duration of your stay with us, you’ll experience a level of quality surroundings that are difficult to duplicate.  Beyond the luxury and fine craftsmanship around you, you’ll get to spend more time with fewer distractions simply enjoying yourself with your loved ones during your time away.  And isn’t that what you’ll appreciate most?

Want to experience this amazing quality for yourself?  We maintain luxury rentals in Big Bear,  Nuevo VallartaMammoth MountainPark CitySouthern California Beaches, and La Quinta. No matter what city you are visiting, staying in a Five Star Vacation Rental property will ensure that you experience the absolute best in luxury accommodations. We would be glad to help you plan your vacation to Big Bear or elsewhere, so if you would like more information, you can reach out to us by calling 310-780-3411.

Invest Your Tax Return in a Big Bear Getaway

Are you, like countless other people, counting on getting a tax return this season? If so, it’s proof that you’ve worked hard and long the past year. A famous philosopher once said that all work and no play is a really bad idea, so why don’t you take the extra funds from your tax return and book a weekend getaway in Big Bear? Whether you envision a family trip or some time for the grown-ups, Big Bear has all the activities you can imagine, and Five Star Vacation Rental can supply the luxurious cabin to make your getaway complete.

Taking a vacation can alleviate all of the stress you didn’t even know you had. A 9 to 5 job or even a less traditional schedule can place a burden on you that will eventually begin to wear you down. People who truly love their jobs still need to take time off, and you’re no different. Putting your tax return towards a vacation rental in Big Bear may be one of the best investments you make. So if your trip is for relaxation, what exactly does the town have to offer?

That depends on your definition of relaxing. If you’re a naturophile, Big Bear’s lush forests, hiking trails, and scenic lake will be enough to draw you in and clear your mind. You can walk out the front door of your vacation rental and take in the beauty that surrounds you. If you’re more relaxed by the idea of pampering, though, Big Bear offers a number of luxury spas where you can unwind, get a massage, and indulge in other treatments that will melt your stress away. Perhaps the most effective luxury to invest in, however, is a premium vacation rental. No matter what you do during your trip, retiring to a cabin with all of the amenities and luxuries you need will truly make your trip unforgettable.

Big Bear is ta fantastic destination if you’re seeking relaxation and a quick getaway, but Five Star Vacation Rental also serves locales such as Nuevo Vallarta, Mammoth Mountain, Park City, Southern California Beaches, and La Quinta. We provide the same level of luxury in all of our accommodations, and we aim to make clients feel relaxed when they rent one of our properties. If you are ready to plan a getaway to Big Bear, or any of the other areas we serve, you can call 310-780-3411 to speak with our staff.

Don’t Rent a Hotel When You Can Stay in Style

Different people have different standards when traveling. Some people will prioritize finding the most affordable accommodations, while others will demand the most exquisite luxury. What if the most luxurious accommodations were also the best value? Well, folks, it isn’t too good to be true. Allow us to present the following reasons why choosing a vacation rental might, in fact, be a better bang for your buck. Not to mention, a better experience and a better place to make memories.

The differences between a hotel room and a vacation rental are plentiful. While a hotel may place you in a cramped room within close proximity to loud neighbors, a vacation rental gives you all of the space and privacy you could ever crave. You need not worry about crying babies or any other late-night sounds drifting over from adjacent rooms. Instead, you can relax and rest freely in a space that’s entirely yours.

Region capture 19Unless, of course, you decide to share it! A vacation rental is the ideal way to share a vacation with your family or with other travelers. Unlike other accommodations, a rental gives you the ability to welcome guests as you please. Parking is also no longer an issue. While a hotel might charge you to park, the area surrounding your rental is also free game for your use, so you and any guests joining you can park without worry. Eliminating the potential charge of parking can result in substantial savings.

You can also save by utilizing the gourmet kitchen in your vacation rental and cooking meals instead of eating out. While sampling local food is, of course, part of your trip, you can make memories cooking with professional-grade amenities. This can save you the cost of several meals and make your vacation even more special. If the goal of your trip is to relax and escape, you deserve a space in which you can do so. A vacation rental from Five Star Vacation Rental offers features and luxury that beat what any hotel might offer as well as an experience that is truly invaluable.

While Big Bear is our most popular destination, you can also enjoy some quality time in our other great luxury vacation rentals:  Nuevo Vallarta, Mammoth Mountain, Park City, Southern California Beaches, and La Quinta. With Five Star Vacation Rentals, you can be assured that your vacation time will be a time of true relaxation and enjoyment for your family.  We recognize that most families today get precious little vacation time, and we work hard to help make sure your time away will be memorable and meaningful. Our staff is ready to answer your questions and help you put together a great vacation.  Give us a call 310-780-3411.

Keep Calm Poster with Crown

School’s been back in for a few weeks.  How’s that going?  Are you adjusting to the new schedule?  We mentioned this a couple weeks ago, and we’ve already begun to see a steady stream of guests who are fighting to keep up with the pressures of simultaneously helping with homework, getting to dance and piano lessons, and arriving at soccer practice on time. And don’t forget to squeeze in a meal that was not purchased from the driver’s seat of your car, and is a bit more complicated than the brief hop from the freezer to the microwave to the hungry children.   It’s a feat almost worthy of a booth at Comic-Con.

It’s important as these pressures close in that you find time to relax and recharge your batteries.  We can think of no better way to do this that a quick weekend getaway in a Five Star Vacation Rental in Big Bear.  There’s really something about the crisp mountain air that revitalizes both the body and the soul.  Couple this with the luxury of your vacation rental, and it’s a remedy for just about any of the pressures you’re facing.

Oktoberfest is under way, and it’s a great activity for the entire family.  Mom and dad can sample some truly amazing beers from around the world while you all can enjoy the music, great food, dancing and booths.  Buy one of those beer steins that’s bigger than your head as a souvenir, and  you’ll smile every time you pull it out back home.  Oktoberfest runs weekends through October.

October has a full slate of other fun activities as well.  On Friday and Saturday nights we recommend you take in the Flashlight Safari at the Big Bear Alpine Zoo.  This is a unique opportunity to observe the animals after dark.  The zoo is an entirely different place once the sun goes down, and many animals are far more active.  On many nights you’ll hear the wolves howling, the owls hooting, and your kids squealing with delight.  It’s a great time.  Visit the zoo’s website for more info: www.bigbearzoo.org

Child with a flashlight looking for somethingOn Saturday, October 17, Big Bear will enjoy a rare treat.  TV star Kiefer Sutherland brings his band to town for a performance at The Cave.  Sutherland has been performing in clubs around the country for years, and this is a great opportunity to hear some great music while spending an evening with one of your favorite TV stars.  You can get more information online at www.thecavebigbear.com

Big Bear Nightlife

Nothing is more fun than losing yourself in some music, swaying to a beat, and enjoying a live performance. Maybe your days of headbanging or disco are over, but chances are you still appreciate the opportunity to go to concerts and see live music. With all of the beautiful nature Big Bear has to offer, events like concerts can sometimes go overlooked, but you won’t regret fitting a show into your visit’s itinerary. Big Bear is home to several wonderful music venues that regularly host acts that are great for the whole family or ideal for a parents’ night out.

If you are looking for a fun, energetic night out, The Cave is the spot for you. In September, you will catch artists like Robby Kreiger’s Jam Kitchen and Y&T at the state-of-the-art venue, and you can enjoy fantastic concessions while you jam out to the evening’s tunes. The Cave is located at 40789 Village Drive, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315, and shows begin at 6:30PM. In addition to the artists who have already been announced, you can expect to see impromptu and last-minute shows from artists traveling through town or staying in Big Bear. The Cave is just one of several spots you are sure to find a show going on.

Part of the allure of venues in Big Bear is their class and quality combined with their intimacy. Though you will often see big-name acts come to town, they will often elect to play for a small crowd in a memorable setting rather than a big arena. While you are enjoying your luxury rental and the sights Big Bear has to offer, venturing to a show and reliving your glory days can be the perfect end to an evening. Concerts are just one of the many arts-focused events going on! On any given day in Big Bear, you can go to a concert, a wine tasting, or a festival.

There are plenty of chances to bring the kids to a concert and stage a family sing-a-long, too! This month, the Big Bear Discovery Center is continuing their Music in the Mountains Summer Concert Series, and kids 12 and under get free admission. The Discovery Center is located at 40971 HWY 38, Fawnskin, Ca 92333, and on September 5th you will see Jim Curry perform A Tribute to John Denver. You can rock out to the classics with your family and see whether or not your kids are old enough to be embarrassed yet! In all seriousness, the whole family will love the intimacy of the outdoor amphitheater, and you’re sure to make memories that will last a lifetime.

How To Make Your Life More Like Your Computer Keyboard

Sometimes unlocking the mysteries of life is as simple as taking a closer look at everyday items around us.  We look at trees, and we see metaphors for strength through strong roots.  Many flowers rise early, follow the light all day, and gently close each night. Even our computer keyboards can offer insights.

On the upper left of most keyboards is the magical, “ESC” key.  As we all know, that’s short for “Escape,” and it’s exactly what makes a Five Star Vacation Rental such a great value.  “Escape” is a powerful concept. In its simplest definition, escape means to seek freedom from some sort of restraint or confinement.  Many of us live lives that are sorely in need of an escape.  We have high-pressure jobs with people relying upon us for one thing or another.  We have commitments and appointments, and sometimes we face one deadline after another. It’s vital for our health and well being that we occasionally seek refuge from this.  Remove the lid from the pressure cooker, and breathe some fresh air. At Five Star Vacation Rentals, that’s what we’re all about.

In the lower left and right corners of most keyboards is the “Ctrl” key, which stands for “Control.”  This is one of the best things about a Five Star Vacation Rental.  Unlike subjecting yourself to the confinement of a hotel, with our vacation rentals, you’re in control.  Feel like eating something in the middle of the night?  No problem.  All our units come with full kitchens.  Just stock them up with your favorites upon your arrival, and you can pull on your robe and slippers for a midnight snack whenever you wish.  Try doing that at a hotel.  Want to bring along the kids, but still have some privacy for the adults?  Give the kids their own bedroom just down the hall, without the bother of strangers walking just outside in the hallway.  Many of our properties have full decks with barbecues as well.  Try grilling a couple of steaks in your room at the hotel, and you’ll soon be facing the wrath of the local fire department.

And at the bottom of every keyboard is the all important space key.   That’s what you may enjoy most about your Five Star Vacation Rental.  Why rent a small room in a hotel, when you can enjoy the space of an entire luxury home for your next getaway?  Surround yourself in a truly luxurious space, so you can enjoy your escape.

Five Star Vacation Rentals specializes in creating luxurious vacations in the most beautiful destinations.  You can browse our properties and book online, or let one of our specialists help you find the perfect getaway destination for your family.  We have great vacation rentals available in Big BearMammothPark CityPalm Springs/La QuintaSouthern California Beaches, and Villa la Estancia in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico.  Whether you’re planning a weekend hiking getaway or a week-long family vacation, we’ll be happy to help you find the perfect location.  Just give us a call at 310-780-3411, and our vacation specialists will help you create an experience that your family will always cherish.

It’s Time to Don Your Metal Pants

We’re just a few weeks away from one of Big Bear’s most popular events.  Yes,  cast out your foolish modern grammar and manners.  It’s time for Big Bear’s annual Renaissance Faire, so pull on your metal pants, chainmail vest, and join us for the weekends of August 1-2, 8-9, and 15-16. You’ll want to make your reservation early, because many of our properties get booked quickly.

This annual event is almost more fun than should be allowed in polite company.  But that’s okay.  Much of the time you may not actually be in polite company.  It’s the one time of the year you get to use words like, “tankard,” “jousting,” and “mirth.” The Renaissance Faire offers a full range of things to do, and offers great entertainment for the entire family.

Our favorite event is the “Imperial Knights.”  These fine folks pull on 130 pounds of steel armour, climb on horses weighing 2000 pounds, and charge at each other with long, pointy lances.  They’ve been known to reach speeds in excess of 30 miles an hour before they collide in the middle.  What could possibly go wrong?

The Passado Action Theater acts out a collection of Shakespearean vignettes filled with bawdy humor, physical comedy and outrageous swordplay. Zaria will also be there. Named in honor of the Slavic goddess of beauty, youth, and sunrise, this troupe is based on a foundation of feminine strength and positive energy. There will be storytellers, pirates, royalty and period craftsman as well. There’s going to a troupe of belly dancers, and you’ll also experience the magic of Ciran the Gypsy Magician.  Wander among the dozens of vendors selling great souvenirs and period crafts.

If this is your first visit, we suggest you arrive hungry, and be prepared to consume some of the most outrageous foods you’ve ever seen.  The rumors are true.  You can actually get an endless supply of roasted turkey legs that clearly come from turkeys the size of an emu.  The ale flows freely, and the cooking aroma in the air is combined with the pleasing sounds of wandering minstrels and occasional shrieks of delight.  Many of our guests keep returning each weekend because it’s just too much fun not to.
